Our purpose

The Tools and Tech exists to help readers make better decisions about equipment, software and digital tools. Our priority is usefulness: explaining who a product or service is for, what matters when choosing it, where the trade-offs are and what alternatives deserve consideration.

Editorial independence

Commercial relationships do not determine our rankings or conclusions. A company cannot buy a favourable verdict, a best-overall award or the removal of a legitimate drawback. Sponsored work, if we introduce it, will be labelled separately from independent editorial content.

Sources and evidence

Research may include manufacturer documentation, current specifications, independent testing, product documentation, reputable technical sources, retailer availability and buyer feedback. We aim to distinguish verified facts from judgement and to link to useful primary sources where appropriate.

AI-assisted workflows

We may use software and AI tools to help organise research, draft structure, edit wording or format content. Those tools do not replace editorial responsibility. Claims, recommendations and publishing decisions must be reviewed before an article is made live.

Updates

Technology changes quickly. We revisit guides when products are replaced, software pricing or features change, availability shifts or new evidence materially changes a recommendation.
