UK: Xin Yue AC PC power cable — model 8784

High fire risk. Official report: 22 October 2026. The affected 1.5m black cable has barcode 6954321087841. OPSS identifies a counterfeit plug and conductors smaller than their marking. It reports withdrawal from sale and destruction by S&S Cash and Carry. Owners should stop using a matching cable and contact the seller or Trading Standards for advice. Do not attempt to repair a counterfeit mains plug. This warning concerns the identified product, not every PC cable. Official report, identification details and photographs.

Worldwide: PHP web-server security updates

Critical fixes released 21 October 2026. Ask your hosting administrator to confirm PHP 8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27, 8.5.12 or verified vendor-backported fixes. A later session-upload-progress advisory requires a separate configuration review. PHP also published Windows dependency rebuilds on 26 October; a runtime number alone does not identify that Windows package revision. Follow the PHP Project’s current advisories. A patched version does not prove a site has never been compromised.

Great Britain: affected Tesla Powerwall 2 systems

Some Powerwall 2 systems are covered by a fire-risk replacement programme. Match the official affected-unit information rather than assuming all Tesla batteries or all countries are covered. Read our Powerwall 2 safety notice and official-source link. Follow Tesla’s instructions; do not reactivate or repair an affected system yourself.

Business software: Oracle October patches

Oracle’s 20 October Critical Patch Update lists affected products, versions and available patches. Administrators should check the exact deployment against Oracle’s live advisory and risk matrices, arrange backups and apply the applicable vendor-supported fixes. This is not a statement that every Oracle installation is affected.

How to use these notices

For physical products, keep model and serial information available and use the manufacturer’s or regulator’s remedy route. For software, identify the installed version and supplier support status before making changes. Our Corrections Policy explains how to report a factual issue; our 26 October radar explains the wider buying-guide updates. We keep recalls separate from commercial recommendations.
