1. Xbox Cloud Gaming is getting monthly usage limits

Xbox has announced a major change to how cloud gaming is included with Game Pass. From November, the monthly included cloud-gaming allowance will be 15 hours for Game Pass Ultimate, 10 hours for Premium and 5 hours for Essential. After the included allowance is used, subscribers will be able to purchase additional cloud playtime through the Xbox Store. Xbox says available hours, purchasing options and cloud features may vary by market, with pricing to be announced before the change takes effect.
Xbox also says eligible owned games will be streamable by purchasing cloud playtime without a Game Pass subscription. The practical effect is that heavy cloud users should no longer assume Game Pass cloud gaming is effectively unlimited after November.
Buyer impact: This matters for handheld gaming, supported smart TVs and anyone considering cloud gaming as an alternative to buying a console or gaming PC.

2. ASUS starts the WiFi 8 rollout
Lifecycle: GT-BN98 series shipping in Canada; wider rollout announced for October 2026

ASUS says the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 series is now available through retail in Canada, ahead of wider availability in October. The ASUS ZenWiFi BN12 WiFi 8 mesh system is also scheduled for October. ASUS is positioning the hardware as a future-facing platform, while noting that some gains can be seen with current WiFi 7 clients.
Buyer impact: WiFi 8 is very early. Broadband speed, wired backhaul, client-device support and regional radio rules still matter more than buying the newest standard simply because it is new. We would treat these as preview products until UK pricing, stock and independent testing are established.

3. Reolink announces OMVI 2i Ultra, Home Hub 2 and new local AI features
Lifecycle: Announced; staged availability during autumn/Q4 2026
Priority: Medium
Reolink has introduced the wire-free dual-view OMVI 2i Ultra, the Home Hub 2, new ReoNeura AI capabilities and further OMVI/TrackFlex developments. Reolink says the OMVI 2i Ultra is planned for late October, the OMVI X16 PoE for Q4, and Home Hub 2 for autumn. Reolink describes Home Hub 2 as a local, subscription-free hub for storing, searching and managing footage, with support for up to eight Reolink cameras and external storage.
Important limitation: Reolink notes that Custom AI Detection requires a firmware update expected no earlier than December 2026, with wider compatibility planned later. That makes it a feature to track, not something to assume is fully available on every supported camera today.
Buyer impact: Local storage and subscription-free AI are attractive, but buyers should still verify encryption, retention, hub compatibility, PoE/Wi-Fi requirements, storage support and lawful camera placement.

4. NVIDIA pushes more AI workloads onto local RTX PCs

NVIDIA has announced faster local inference for llama.cpp and vLLM, simplified local-AI support coming to several agent applications, and NVIDIA PAIR, a Personal AI Router intended to distribute inference across PCs on a local network. NVIDIA also says new RTX Spark Windows PCs are coming in October.
Buyer impact: Local AI can reduce dependence on cloud services, but it does not automatically make a workflow private or cheap. VRAM/unified-memory capacity, model provenance, network permissions, software support and electricity/hardware cost all remain important.

5. ASUS shows ProArt P14, P16 and GR1X systems powered by RTX Spark

ASUS has unveiled new ProArt P14 and P16 laptops and the compact ProArt GR1X mini PC using NVIDIA RTX Spark. ASUS is pitching them at creators and developers running larger local models and AI-assisted creative workloads. The announcement does not provide dependable UK sale dates or UK pricing.
Buyer impact: These systems are worth watching for local-AI and creative work, but value cannot be judged properly until final regional configurations, battery behaviour, software support, pricing and independent testing are available.

6. Lenovo expands its business PC, display and security lineup
Lifecycle: Announced; staged availability from September 2026 into early 2027
Priority: Medium
Lenovo has announced a broad set of business devices including the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2, ThinkCentre M75q and M75s Gen 6, ThinkCentre X Ultra and new ThinkVision professional displays. Lenovo lists availability beginning in September for the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2, October for the M75q/M75s Gen 6, November for ThinkCentre X Ultra, December for the ThinkVision T34WD-4v and early 2027 for several other displays.
Lenovo also highlighted ThinkShield TraceLock and Prompt Security integrations for supported enterprise deployments.
Buyer impact: These could be relevant to small businesses and hybrid-work environments, but Lenovo’s euro launch pricing should not be treated as UK pricing. Final UK configurations, support terms and security-management requirements need checking.

7. Lenovo announces Yoga Tab Gen 2 and Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2

Lenovo says the Yoga Tab Gen 2 and Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 will be available from September. Both launch with Android 17 and Lenovo says they will receive seven operating-system upgrades through Android 24, plus security updates through 2033, subject to Lenovo’s stated terms.
Buyer impact: These are potentially interesting pen-first creator and productivity tablets. Buyers should check whether the pen and keyboard are included in a specific regional bundle and whether the apps they rely on properly support the hardware.

8. September Android Drop adds Find Hub memory, Motion Assist and more

Google’s September Android Drop includes the ability to ask Gemini to remember where an item was placed in Find Hub, Motion Assist for Android 17 phones, Guided vision in Gemini Live, Google Keep collaboration inside Messages and custom chat themes. Availability varies by Android version, device and country.
