What to check before buying
Actual usable width
Measure monitors, speakers, PC case and control devices rather than buying from nominal desk width alone. A 120cm desk can be excellent with one monitor and a monitor arm but cramped with dual 32-inch screens and a tower on top.
Desk depth
Depth determines viewing distance and how comfortably a large monitor can be positioned. Around 75–80cm is considerably easier to work with than very shallow gaming desks when using 32-inch or ultrawide screens.
Monitor mounting
Check clamp clearance, desktop thickness and any cable tray or frame directly beneath the rear edge before adding third-party monitor arms.
Sit-stand range
For taller or shorter users, the minimum and maximum desk height matters more than whether the desk merely says “standing”. Match the range to your seated chair height and standing elbow position.
Cable and PC movement
A standing desk needs enough cable slack for its full travel. A PC mounted to the moving desk frame can simplify cabling compared with leaving the tower on the floor.
