Connected cycling or rowing: choose the exercise first
Echelon’s connected equipment includes the 22-inch-screen EX-5s exercise bike, the tablet-based Row machine and the more integrated Row-7s rower. Each has a different equipment, screen and storage arrangement; a generic “Echelon cardio” product button is not enough for shoppers.
| Exact model | Quoted UK device price | Distinction | Buying destination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Echelon EX-5s Smart Connect Bike | £1,099 | Indoor cycling with 22-inch screen | EX-5s UK |
| Echelon Row Smart Rowing Machine | £599 | Foldable rower with tablet holder and handle resistance controls | Echelon Row UK |
| Echelon Row-7s Smart Rowing Machine | £1,999 | Higher-end screen-led rowing experience | Row-7s UK |

Subscription costs can reverse the comparison
Echelon’s UK store displays a Premier price of £29.99/month following an introductory 30-day offer on several product pages, with an alternative longer-term equivalent of about £24.99 per month. Confirm the selected plan, billing cadence, features without subscription and cancellation window. As an illustration only, twelve months at £29.99 adds £359.88, before any shipping and accessories. A machine that appears £500 cheaper can cost more over its lifetime if the intended workout library needs recurring fees.
EX-5s versus EX-5
Do not mix the EX-5s and EX-5 model names or imagery. Echelon markets the EX-5s with an integrated approximately 22-inch screen; the EX-5 has a different class-display setup. Determine whether the rider wants a dedicated display or already uses a tablet. Check saddle/handlebar adjustment, pedals and shoes, room clearance, network requirements and the latest software before purchase.
Row versus Row-7s
The standard Row uses a separate device on its swivelling holder, folds for storage and includes manufacturer-advertised resistance controls on the handle. Row-7s is much more expensive and aimed at purchasers seeking an integrated connected screen experience. Neither should be confused with the more traditional Concept2 RowErg, which uses a PM5 performance monitor rather than a dedicated subscription-class screen. Measure the rowing stroke footprint as well as storage dimensions.
Bottom line
The EX-5s is for cycling-led classes; the Row is an entry-level connected rowing choice; and the Row-7s prioritises an integrated coaching display.
